Zimmer® NexGen® Knee

Knee replacement failure, revision surgery, loosening of the implant after replacement and knee pain or knee complications are some of the reports that are driving concerns regarding Zimmer NexGen CR and NexGen CR-Flex knee replacement components. The components in question were used in Zimmer NexGen Tibial Trays, NexGen MIS Tibial components and MIS Modular Tibial Plates.

New suits filed over Zimmer NexGen knee replacements

About two dozen lawsuits have been filed around the country alleging that Zimmer NexGen knee replacements are defective and the company failed to warn that they have a high rate of failure requiring additional revision surgery.

Last week, plaintiffs’ lawyers filed a petition to consolidate the cases before a multidistrict litigation panel. That petition is scheduled to be heard in July.

Zimmer® NexGen®
Zimmer Nexgen Knee Implant Products Liability litigation, case number 2272, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Plaintiffs in the multidistrict litigation claim the engineering changes that Zimmer made to NexGen CR-Flex knee replacement to allow a greater degree of flexibility in its NexGen components caused greater stress on the knee implants. The lawsuits argue that the high-flex knee implants often force patients to undergo revision surgery and question whether the products actually increase flexion.
