MOTOR VEHICLE – STOP SIGN – TORN MENISCUS AND TORN ANNULUS

FACTS:  Plaintiff, a 21 year-old student, claimed that he was injured in a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Ave. T and 29th St. in Brooklyn. Plaintiff claimed that Defendant did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection. Defendant argued that Plaintiff did not keep a proper lookout and should have seen him and avoided the collision.

INJURIES: Torn meniscus requiring arthroscopic surgery, torn annulus at L5-S1, treated conservatively. Plaintifff claimed that he has developed arthritis in the knee. Defendant argued that there was no tear to the menisucus, and contended that the injury was not usually related to this type of accident.

VERDICT:  $200,000
